History- The "Schéifermisch"
This sculpture, made by Michel Heintz jr., represents a herdsman from Asselborn condemned to death for having defended his fatherland against oppression during the "War of the Bludgeons" (1798). Decapitated at the age of 25, the "Schéifermisch", with his typical Luxembourgish character, shows how difficult it can sometimes be for a small country to defend its rights and freedoms against the big nations.

Commemorative monument built in honour to all the fighting men with the message : sacrificed youth, never again!
